Marc Jardot

Marc spent the majority of his childhood in the woods, making huts, hiding in the village nurseries, learning and understanding nature with the Éclaireurs de France de Pontarlier.  Bathed in photography since 2007, he crossed the professional barrier in 2015

in Oye and Pallet.

Course of the Trip: 

Day 1

PARIS / KEFLAVIK / BORGANES (± 116km)  

   After welcoming you at Keflavik airport, we will reach our departure point in Borganes. We will set up a welcome cocktail and a briefing on the progress of the trip in the youth hostel in Borganes, we will spend the night there.  

 

Day 2

BORGANES / GRUNDARFJORDUR (± 155km)  

   We will leave Borganes to travel the magnificent Snaefellsnes peninsula where we will be able to observe the rare polar fox. This peninsula is one of the most beautiful in Iceland, it is the youngest part of the island, mainly made up of lava flows and volcanoes. We will spend the night in the youth hostel in Grundarfjordur.  

 

Day 3

GRUNDARFJORDUR / FERDAPJONUSTAN BARDASTROND (± 340km)  

   The next day we will continue towards the Hornstrandir peninsula; a visual paradise (really !!), a unique setting, made up of gigantic and extremely wild fjords. It will also be an opportunity to meet the iconic polar fox in his finest finery. We will spend the night in two apartments located in Ferdapjonustan Bardastrond near a hot spring.  

 

Day 4

FLOKALUNDUR / LATRABJARG / BREIDAVIK (± 132km)

   (If the weather and road conditions allow it) The time has come to meet the highest cliffs in Iceland located in Latrabjarg. We will meet many arctic foxes and rock ptarmigan. We will spend the night in the Breidavik guesthouse.

 

Day 5,6,7 and 8
BREIDAVIK / ARCTIC FOX CENTER / COUNTRY HOTEL HEYDALUR (± 285km)

   We will always go further north along the western fjords. On the road we will be on the lookout for the discreet ptarmigan and the arctic fox of course! We will pass by the "Arctic Fox Center", and we will spend the night in the famous Country Hotel Heydalur known for its neighboring polar foxes.

 

Day 9 and 10

COUNTRY HOTEL HEYDALUR / AKUREYRI (± 370km)

   We will continue our route east of Hornstrandir, we will pass unique fjords in the world, we will come across sea-calf seals, common eider colonies and herds of Icelandic ponies in the beautiful northern valleys of Hornstrandir. We will slowly leave Hornstrandir with still magnificent landscapes and we will continue our journey to the second largest city in Iceland; Akureyri. We will enjoy a large number of polar foxes on the heights of this city.

 

Day 11

AKUREYRI / SŒBERG (± 180km)

   We will stop at the Heggstadanes peninsula, in the inn of Soeberg at the edge of a hot spring and not far from the largest colony of seal calf in Iceland, of course, we will take advantage of it.

 

Day 12

SŒBERG / BORGANES / BLACK BEACH SUITE (± 310km)

    We definitely say goodbye to North Iceland. We take the road n ° 1 in the direction of the south. We pass through Borganes and the capital again to head towards the Seljalandsfoss waterfall (40m high with the possibility of going behind), one of the most spectacular waterfall in Iceland. We will sleep at the Black Beach Suite 3km from Vik.

 

Day 13

BLACK BEACH SUITE / VAGNSSTADIR (± 225km)

   We will go towards the glacial lake of Jokulsarlon, a fabulous place where hundreds of pieces of ice break off from the glacier to come to be stranded on the magnificent black sand beaches. But before we go to see the canyon of Fjadrargljufur, a geological feat of the most photogenic and explore a spectacular ice cave, the shades of blue and the transparencies are breathtaking. On the road, before arriving at our accommodation, we will be able to admire and of course photograph the magnificent tongues of ice that form the Vatnajokull (the largest glacier in Europe). We will sleep at the youth hostel in Vagnsstadir.

 

Day 14

VAGNSSTADIR / VESTRAHORN / VIK / REYKJAVIK (± 390km)

   In the morning we will leave towards the East, not far from our accommodation for the so famous and so much photographed mountain range of Vestrahorn, we will also be on the lookout for all cetaceans decided to show themselves. Then we will set off again towards the West in the direction of Vik, we will be able to make a furtive stop at the Jokulsarlon glacier lake since we will pass in front of it again. Afterwards, we will head towards the beaches and cliffs of Vik very requested by the film industry, we will also meet this old man who is the Douglas DC47 Skytrain, a US Navy plane that landed in disaster during the cold War. We will pass by Skogafoss, a waterfall of very large proportions. We will meet in Reykjavik at the end of the day, we will spend the night in a youth hostel.

Day 15

REYKJAVIK / KEFLAVIK / PARIS (± 45km)

   You will have the morning, either to wander at your leisure in Reykjavik, or to go by boat for 3 hours in search of cetaceans. We will meet around noon to go see George, manager of a local beer bar (the Kaldi Bar), and we will eat in a pub in the city center. We will then reach Keflavik airport, and departure for Paris.
